The month of August and Some Updates

Hey Kiddos! Sorry for my lack of posting in August. August was insane! Tax Free Weekend, Bachelorette, Bridal Show, Sister's Wedding, Sample Sale. Oh, and Bridals by Jodi closed on a brand new building for BBJ 2.0!!! Whew. I'm tired.

Anywho, MLW and I have been a little lacking in the home improvement/DIYness this month so I haven't had too much to share. However I have made a little progress in the dining room and patio so I wanted to give ya'll a sneak peak. I also thought I would share a little marble update after 3 months of living with it.

Check it out! A Rug and finishing end chairs! If you remember, I had thought about going for all 6 ghost chairs. I decided to just order 2 and see how we liked them. I love them! MLW, not so much. He calls them my plastic chairs. That being said we have entered a compromise and the 4 existing chairs will stay and be flanked by the ghost chairs.

My West Elm rug went on sale and I couldn't be happier. I do need to get a rug pad so the corgis stop slipping and sliding it all over the place. Next up, light fixture and moving the white cabinet out!

I've also finished my outdoor coffee table inspire by The White Buffalo. I pretty much followed Lindsey's instructions adding 2 coats of sealer to the bread bowl since I intended it for outdoor use. I also made a giant citronella candle inspired by this $198 beauty. Cost for mine? About $30.

-Green Bowl (I already had)
-Bag of 10 candle wicks hot glued down
-5 lb bag of candle wax flakes from Michaels
-Citronella Oil and Lavender Oil from Whole Foods for scent and mosquito protection
-Slowly melt on stove
-Pour into bowl and let set
-Boom!

The green bowl has also helped inspired a little color scheme, so I've added a green turkish throw and hope to get some outdoor pillows on sale to toss out there as well.

Alright Marble time! Does it etch? Yes, but you can only see it if you look the right way. The above photo is of the piece right next to the stove which is arguably the most used. The dark spots aren't really dark in real life, but you can tell the surface texture is different there. Does it scratch? Yes, but only if you are a dufus and drag something heavy across it. Does it drive us nuts? No! I'm still absolutely smitten and the little "blemishes" don't bother me one bit.

Same piece of marble looking the other direction. Don't see a thing do you! You really have to know where the etch marks are to catch them. : D

Alright, that is all for now. I promise to be a better blogger in September!

Love ya'll!
